I just wanted to make a short post and explain and apologize to everyone for being completely MIA for a while now. Short version is that I’m pregnant and is expecting my first child within a months time. I sort of thought this time would have enabled me to read a lot and do lots of reviews, but unfortunately it rather made me extremely tired and exhausted and without any inspiration for reading. I tried reading a few books a while back, but I realized that I wasn’t “into it” the way I should and therefore I also knew my review would not be accurate and I wanted to give all of you indie authors out there the best chance of a great review. I also want to say thank you for all the emails I’ve gotten during this time and I know I’ve been really bad at answering, please don’t take this personal. And as a last comment, I wanted to let you know that I’ve begun to sort through all of my emails (there’s hundreds of them) and I hope I’ll be able to dig into some new books in the near future. When I was 8 years old I began breeding rabbits and went to shows and everything. Eventually had over twenty individuals, but by 17 I transitioned into breeding cats instead. About a week ago I unfortunately caught the flu and ended up being stuck in bed for what feels like forever. Haven’t been able to do much for the whole week and all the books on my TBR list are still waiting for me to dig in, but when my eyes couldn’t stay open for more than a few minutes at a time it felt like an impossible task. But finally I’m getting better and I’ve started reading again and in a few days I hope to post a new review here. In the meantime I did sketch out the main character in my newest work in progress, a fantasy novel called Shards of Life (name may change) that I’ve been thinking about and plotting for over ten years. Finally I’ve decided to really make it happen. So I sketched the main character by hand with a pen and paper, and considering I’m a crappy artist I knew I would never be happy with just the hand made drawing. The drawing ended up looking rather funny and the eyes were set too close, the face was too narrow, the nose was too small and yeah, it didn’t look that good….

When I’m writing, I always find myself wondering what certain things sound like and how I am going to make my reader hear what I hear. What does it sound like when a glass break against a concrete floor? In order to make it easier for myself in finding the right word, I went on a massive search on the internet and I dug deep into my dictionary to find words that would describe sounds. Then I compiled all of this into one single document and added it to my Scrivener template, so that I now get easy access to my own dictionary of sounds every time I sit down to write. So I figured, that if I have use for this long list of “sound words”, then maybe other do to. So here is my list of 123 words to describe sound. Enjoy. So the madness that has been PitchWars is now over and the 2015 Mentees have been chosen. Congrats to all who made it and good luck in the future. I hope you do well in the agent round later. It wasn’t a surprise to me that I didn’t get picked, and it’s not that big of a deal for me either. I didn’t see Pitch Wars as a competition where only the best ones won, I saw it as an opportunity and a way to get my foot into the writing community. Being so new to this thing and living so far away from other writers it’s sometimes hard to find friends and people to talk to, but Pitch Wars really made this a lot easier for me. During the time we all waited eagerly to find out who the mentors was going to pick, many of them used the #PitchWars twitter hashtag to give us hints and tips. And many of these tips I knew and some were new and great. Unfortunately I don’t have the memory to remember them all and write them down right here though. This month has not only been better reading wise than I had expected it to be, I actually managed to get through three books this month (and I didn’t even try very hard), but it has also been full of new friends and lots of fun on Twitter (you can read more about that at the end of this post). The only book from my TBR post that I didn’t read was A Quest Of Heroes by Morgan Rice. Instead I read Progency of Gods by Geoffrey Storm, which arrived much sooner than I had anticipated. The first book that I finished was Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. And even though I didn’t love it, I definitely liked it. The plot didn’t do much for me, and neither did Celaena, but the writing took me by surprise and I loved it. I liked it so much that I just ordered the remaining three books in the series (not the prequel though). It’ll be fun to keep reading this series.
